5 Tips for a Great Day at Aquatica

Recently I took advantage of my Sea World annual pass and headed to Aquatica for the first time. This year when I got my Sea World pass it also included access to Aquatica. I love water parks and hadn’t been to Aquatica yet, so it worked out perfectly. Then I had a friend in town that enjoyed them as well, so we decided to make a day of it.

5 Tips for a Great Day at Aquatica

We had a wonderful time and I can honestly say that Aquatica is now my favorite waterpark. Today I’m sharing 5 tips to make sure you have a GREAT day at Aquatica, or any waterpark for that matter. A few simple tricks can help take your day from OK to fabulous!

Plan ahead. Check the waterpark’s website for opening hours, admission prices, and any special events or promotions that may be happening. Waterparks can get crowded, so it’s best to arrive early to avoid the lines. This will also give you time to explore the park and find your favorite rides and attractions.

Note: There are some days when pass holders can get in early, so definitely check that out before you go.

Rent a Cabana. I know that this can be out of some people’s budget, but at Aquatica, their cabanas start as low as $59 (depending on the day you go) and include 4 guests. Adding extra people runs $15-30 per person. If you are going with a group or even just another person, this can be a great addition to your day.

The cabana we rented had a ceiling fan, two lounge chairs with a table, two small chairs, an extra large locker to store your stuff, four towels, and a fridge with 12 bottles of water. You also get 20% off Merchandise and they have In-Cabana Food & Beverage Service. If you are a pass-holder, you also get a discount on the cabana rental itself. Cabanas are located in different areas of the park and that determines the price, so keep that in mind when booking.

It was great to be able to have somewhere to go back to during the day. It was so nice to be able to sit down in the shade, reapply sunscreen, and have some water. Being out in the sun takes a lot out of you and this can help make sure that you can enjoy a full day without overdoing it.

Note: Cabana rentals are non-refundable due to weather or ride closures. We waited until the morning of our visit to book the cabana, that way we could check the weather before paying.

Pack the essentials. In addition to your swimsuit, sunscreen, and hat, be sure to these essentials that will help make your day a good one.

  • Towels. Towels are available, but there is a charge to rent them, so make sure to bring your own.
  • Sunglasses. Hats aren’t always a great idea on slides, but sunglasses can keep the sun out of your eyes and actually stay on your face.
  • Power bank and charging cord. If you plan to bring your phone that probably means that you will be taking lots of photos. There aren’t a lot of places to charge your phone if your battery starts running low.
  • Change of clothes. The last thing you want to do after spending the day in a wet bathing suit is to have to drive home in it as well. There are places in the restrooms to change, so take advantage of it and change into some dry clothes. Your body will thank you for it later.

Wear Shoes. This is a big one, especially in Florida. I wore flip-flops to the park, but I wasn’t sure if it would be feasible to wear them all day when we would be going on waterslides and such. What would I do with them on the slide? Thankfully Aquatica has “Sneaker Keepers” near all of their slides so that you have somewhere to put your shoes while you slide. This is great because by mid-afternoon the concrete in the park can get very hot.

Take breaks. It’s important to stay hydrated and cool, so be sure to take breaks throughout the day. Drink plenty of water and sit in the shade when you need to. If you’re feeling tired or hot, take a break. There’s no need to push yourself too hard. Being out in the sun and Florida heat all day can really take it out of you, so give yourself enough breaks.

I hope these tips help you to have the best day possible at Aquatica, or your favorite waterpark. Bring on summer!
